Paccar manufacturers heavy trucks — tractor-trailers, dump trucks, buses, etc.  Headquartered just outside Seattle, they have factories and subsidiaries throughout the world.  Among their brands are the Kenworth, Peterbilt, DAF and Foden.

DAF

Loudthink® personnel developed a system for optimizing repair methods and calculating associated costs at the DAF headquarters in Eindhoven, The Netherlands.  With a system that determined the required tasks and their optimal order, DAF could:

More effectively control and forecast warranty costs

Avoid fraud by limiting payment to the minimum cost — even for multiple, simultaneous repairs

Sell the system to dealers for training and as a resource for mechanics

Kenworth and Peterbilt

At Paccar headquarters, the team was charged with implementing an ERP and a CRM system.  The ERP system focused on internal order fulfillment processes, while the CRM project implemented a product configurator for dealers.  Together the projects realized return-on-investment by:

  Reducing production supply inventory

Accelerating sales by eliminating engineering review needed to guarantee manufacturing feasibility

Reducing engineering per product by avoiding redundant and extraneous designs

Facilitating hand-offs from sales to manufacturing to invoicing
